BLIND LOVE

There was an elegant and pleasant girl that once lived in a village, this girls name was Jessica. Jessica was a rare jewel she was beautiful to behold and she was every mans dream in the village. Her good qualities and manner of approaching things made her to be famous and looked for by every man, the wealthy men were busy chasing Jessica earnestly but as expected she turned them Down because that wasn’t her problem Jessica wanted a better life for her parents because her parents were peasant farmers and she wasn’t happy about it she was determined to change the situation of things for her family by using every legal means possible. Jessica wanted help but she didn’t want to marry any of the wealthy men that were coming to ask for her hand in marriage because she didn’t want to be called a gold digger and that’s why she worked thoroughly to maends meet for her parents. And one may ask the kind of work she was doing to taking care of herself and parents she was basically farming and doing all other forms of menial jobs and her awesome appearance didn’t stop her from working diligently. One faithful day she went to the village stream to fetch water on her way home she accidentally hit her foot on a stone and the clay pot she went to fetch water with got broken she cried profusely like a brat and on her way home she met a guy whose name was Anthony, Anthony asked her what the problem was she explained to him what happened and he felt bad for her and decided to replace the clay pot for her and which he did, she was scared to accepting it at first because she believed if a guy does something for her then the guy will ask for something in return but ironically Anthony wasn’t like that after getting her the clay pot he didn’t even bother to ask her what her name was he just bought it for her and left without uttering any word, perplexed by his actions she went after him to tell him thank you which he responded with a smile. After telling him thank you she went her own way and explained what happened to her mother her mother started praying continually for Anthony, Days past and Jessica started wondering and thinking about the kind gesture Anthony gave her and she prayed to God to meet him again and days turn to weeks, weeks turn to month and months turn to years without seeing Anthony and she really felt bad about the whole situation she said if she knew she won’t easily see him again the other day she would have asked more about him and perhaps know where he was residing. Later on she asked herself why she was eager to meeting Anthony, or has she falling in love with him? The question is rhetoric, Simply put she knew something was growing in her but she didn’t know what it was. On the other hand Anthony was a decent and calm man he was very quiet he was the son of Mazi Chinedu, Mazi Chinedu was an Igbo man that relocated to the village Jessica was residing some years back and he was a business man a wealthy one at that and so he sent all his children to boarding school in the urban area and that’s why Anthony was not always around he only come around during their holiday and that was when he met Jessica the previous day about a year ago now, And he was currently getting ready to come back home for another holiday and he was enthusiastic about coming home because he had missed his parents vehemently. The said day when he will be living his school for his parents house came and he and his older siblings got ready so as to get to the village on time and at about half past five in the evening they got home. On getting home he went straight to greet his parents they were very happy to see their children. After welcoming them he decided to go into his room and have some rest in the cool evening of the following day he went out to get something for his parents, after purchasing what they asked him to buy he started strolling back home and on his way home Jessica saw him, she was filled with enthusiasm and ecstasy at the same time, she was damned surprised as well; on the other hand Anthony was calm because he didn’t even remember anything about her again, Jessica walked up to him to say hi and he retorted with hello, and she told him she was grateful for the help he rendered her the other day and Anthony was like I beg your pardon because he have forgotten that he once helped her Jessica then had to explain to him how he helped her before Anthony remembered after remembering they exchanged pleasantries and chatted for sometime. That was how their endless friendship started and they became so close that there was absolutely no day they didn’t see because they were bosom friends. Anthony got to know more about Jessica and he felt bad when he realized that a pretty girl like her was doing odd jobs to make a living instead of being in school he told her not to worry that God will make a way for her, Anthony started growing feelings for Jessica but he was scared to tell her and he was just an SS3 student getting ready to write WAEC, how on earth will he tell his parent that he was in love, telling his parents wasn’t even the issue here, the main issue here is that he haven’t been able to tell Jessica, so he just harbored the feelings in his own heart without telling her because all that girl needed was help and not love that was what he thought unknown to him that Jessica had falling for him as well. Anthony started thinking of a possible way to help her and he didn’t know how to go about it because he was still a student and he wasn’t working all he depended upon was the stipend his parents were giving him and that won’t be sufficient for him to help her. He wanted to open a business but he decided to ask her what her educational qualification and to his surprise Jessica was already a senior school certificate holder and he asked her if she would love to further her education she said yes she would have loved to but she don’t have the money to further it and her parents can’t help her either, Anthony told her not to worry that he will help and make sure she is educated no matter how hard it was going to be. Anthony left their meeting arena that day and went back home pondering on how he was going to get money to send Jessica to university when he was still in secondary school TO BE CONTINUED IN THE NEXT EPISODE
